Home Motorcycle Rules Outlaw 5.50 Motorcycle
Outlaw 5.50 Motorcycle

Outlaw 5.50 Motorcycle will run on a 5.50 1/8 of a mile elapse time index.  Motorcycles that run quicker than a 5.50 elapse time will be disqualified. Participants in this class are allowed to use any type of power adder and chassis configuration.  This class will include old and new style motorcycles using both car and motorcycle type racing slicks.  Outlaw 5.50 Motorcycle will be one of our most popular and competitive motorcycle classes.

 

Designation: O/5.50 followed by racer number.

CHASSIS

FRAME
OEM, aftermarket and back halved frames allowed.


BODY
Nitrous equipped motorcycles must have thumb (butterfly) body fasteners on any aftermarket body pieces that cover bottle to allow removal of panel or section by hand without the use of tools.


STEERING DAMPER
Required.

 

BATTERY
Must be securely fastened within the frame parameter.

 

BRAKES
Front and rear hydraulic brakes are required.  All brake systems must be properly adjusted and fully functional. Rear brake must also be fully operational. Brake lines must be OEM type or braided steel hose or stainless steel line.

 

GROUND CLEARANCE
Minimum 2 inch ground clearance with rider seated on the bike and no more than 10 pounds of rear tire pressure.

 

TIRE SIZE
No Restrictions.


WHEEL BASE
No minimum


WHEELIE BARS
Not required.

 

CHAIN GUARD
Must cover entire length and width of drive chain.  Extended chain guard recommended.  Belt guards are mandatory where applicable.

 

ENGINE TYPE
Unlimited displacement.

 

V-TWIN
S.F.I. Specification 46.1 approved engine restraint systems are required for all nitro entries (Recommended for forced induction, nitrous and alcohol). These restraints must be replaced or recertified by the manufacturer every two (2) years. Manufacturers can only recertify the restraint system one (1) time.

 

POWER ADDERS
No restrictions.

 

FUEL AND FUEL SYSTEMS
No restrictions.

 

INTERCOOLER
Allowed where applicable.

 

ELECTRONICS
No restrictions.

 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
KILL SWITCH
Required.  Must use ignition cut-off switch attached securely to rider.  Recommend that Ignition, fuel pump and solenoids deactivate.

 

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
A full leather suit is required.  Two-piece suits that attach with a zipper recommended.  Synthetic suits are strictly prohibited.  Full leather boots are required.  Boots must cover the entire ankle.  Full leather gloves are required and Full-face helmet meeting Snell 95, 2000, 2005 certification.

Chest protectors are mandatory for all nitro v-twins (Ballistic chest protection meaning bullet proof). This is a device worn to protect the rider's chest from puncture of flying debris in case of catastrophic engine explosion.  Recommended for forced induction, nitrous injected and alcohol v-twins as well.

 

CARBURETORS
Carburetor restraint/backfire strap is recommended on motorcycles utilizing nitrous oxide.

 

FUEL LINES
Steel braided fuel lines mandatory on all pump driven fuel systems.  All non-braided fuel lines must be fastened with a metal clamp, band or fitting (no wire).  Do not over-tighten.

 

HELMET
Full-face helmet meeting Snell 95, 2000, 2005 certification.

 

OIL CATCH CAN
Required.

 

ENGINE CONTAINMENT
Oil blanket/diaper or belly-pan required.
